Our Story & Mission
The dream of creating a business together started when we began dating in 2014. We both had backgrounds that fostered a love for design and creativity. Ethan grew up spending time in the wood shop with his father and Marissa grew up rearranging every room in her parents' home which drove her love for design and pushed her to get her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the University of Northern Iowa. After two years of marriage and a global pandemic, that had us rethinking our professional dreams. We decided to take a leap of faith and launched Ember Designs in the winter of 2020.
Our mission is to educate people on the importance of design, which is not just the aesthetics but the functionality of a space as well. We want to share great design with our community by making the process as smooth and fun as possible.
Marissa
Owner & Designer
Marissa is the designer and face of Ember. She communicates with the clients and contractors and ensures the project is running smoothly and according to the plan.
Her favorite part of design is figuring out a solution for a challenging spatial issue and making a space more functional.
Ethan
Owner
Ethan is involved with Ember behind the scenes while he works full-time as a project manager for a local company. He helps on-site as needed and collaborates with Marissa during the design process of each project.
His favorite part of the process is conceptualizing challenging design solutions.
